As stated in the Rules of the Road, page 29, MSDS Sheet, 8.b, the use of any potentially harmful or destructive material is not allowed at any Tournament. Spraying a commercial spray paint or any aerosol-propelled paint is not allowed in any Tournament building or Challenge Site because of harmful fumes and the potential 'drifting' of the paint in the air. As stated in the Rules of the Road, page 27, Safety #5, teams must be sure to check with their Regional and/or Affiliate Director to see whether there are Site-Specific Restrictions for any materials they plan to use at the Tournament venue.

The definition of Direct Physical Contact on page 3 should read: Direct Physical Contact is the use of body parts such as hands, legs or arms to manipulate a DI-BOT. The team can use a device to indirectly initiate a DI-BOT's motion or task. The device may be very simple. A piece of material that simply covers a body part does not qualify as a device. It is up to the team to determine the details of DI-BOT. Any object the team says is a device for the purpose of initiating the DI-BOT's motion or task is a device and not an integral part of their DI-BOT, even if it is attached (such as a rope or a wired remote). This device cannot be considered part of the DI-BOT for Technical Design and Innovation scoring.

There is no requirement in the Challenge that the DI-BOT has to be a robot or a robot-like device. It can be any kind of device the team dreams up, as long as it performs a team-defined motion or task using a technical method, as defined on page 3 of the Challenge. The team may build a robot or robot-like device as their DI-BOT if the choose to, but it is not a requirement of the Challenge. (See 3. b-e)
