Destination ImagiNation is Looking for the Next Reality Show Star!

October 20, 2009 – Glassboro, NJ—Destination ImagiNation (DI) is challenging students to create an online reality show that will document the 2009-10 season with the Start a Team Reality Show Contest.

Destination ImagiNation wants to show the world the incredible experience of participating in its after-school activity by letting DI teams create their own reality shows. Through October, 31, any registered DI team will be able to submit a 30-second video telling us why it should be selected as the ambassador team from one of Destination ImagiNation’s six Challenge categories. The final winning team members will receive a $1,000 scholarship each and have their video updates be included in the 2010-11 Destination ImagiNation marketing campaign.

“Our students are some of the most creative individuals in the word, and we wanted to find a way to share their story,” said Matthew Arts, Marketing and Public Relations Director, Destination ImagiNation. “This contest is the perfect opportunity for our teams to share their experience and spread the word about Destination ImagiNation. We have more than 72,000 DI participants annually, so we are anticipating some fantastic entries and stories.”

Selected teams will be given video cameras and a detailed production schedule that includes subjects for each video shoot. Each team will create a blog on Destination ImagiNation’s Web site and promote visits using all forms of social media to drive traffic. Video updates will be posted monthly beginning in November 2009 and concluding May 2010 at the Destination ImagiNation Global Finals. The winning reality show will be determined by the number of unique visits to the team’s blog.

"DI kids will jump at the opportunity to tell the world about this fabulous program. Given the creativity of a typical DI student, I wouldn’t be surprised if the next Real World, Hills or even Glee star came from this contest. The world should fasten its seatbelt for a wild ride," said Sally Gold, the Affiliate Director of Destination ImagiNation, Maryland.
