April 22, 2010-Cherry Hill, New Jersey-The main Tournament season for Destination ImagiNation has come to a close, and more than 3,300 new volunteers from the Give a Day Get a Disney Day campaign assisted with running Tournaments across the states.
“When we were accepted into the Disney program, we anticipated maybe a thousand volunteers to want to participate with our program. Imagine our surprise when the total count of more than 3,300 new volunteers was achieved!” said Matthew Arts, Marketing and Public Relations Director for Destination ImagiNation. “I believe our mission of teaching creativity, teamwork and problem solving resonated with many people seeking a volunteer opportunity, and we are glad they selected Destination ImagiNation for their Disney Day.”
More than 6, 600 individuals inquired about volunteer opportunities with Destination ImagiNation, with 3,393 positions verified and completed based on available space across all Affiliates. Destination ImagiNation will be inviting all volunteers back for the 2010-11 season and plan on expanding the number of opportunities to accommodate as many individuals as possible.
“I had a great time volunteering for the Destination ImagiNation Regional Tournament! The kids presented some amazing solutions and I was very impressed by what people their ages could put together in response to the challenge given. I would consider going back to volunteer for the DI program next year.” Charrie McFadden, Destination Imagination Volunteer from Utica, Michigan.
