All in the Family for Three Generations

When Sandra Henson first got involved in creative problem solving in 1984, she was a teacher at the Hutchison School, an independent school for girls in Memphis. Her husband soon joined, volunteering as an Appraiser from time to time but mostly just doing those unheralded tasks that keep the program running from year to year. Says Sandra, “Travel is my passion – Destination ImagiNation has been the journey of a lifetime.”

Risorgimento Award Comes Home!

Former DI Participant Kristen Jerger Receives Top Creative Honors

Kristen Jerger is the proud US Patent holder for the design of an ultrasonic surgical aspirator (CUSA), a very high-tech piece of surgical equipment used in neurosurgery and liver surgery. She also holds European patents for her designs involving argon-enhanced electro surgery, another high-tech wonder that gives surgeons more precision and control than in conventional electro surgery.

The Heart of the Matter

"DI has changed my son's life."

A human resources professional by day and a Team Manager by night, Steve Hrapkiewicz has a high regard for the value of what DI teaches children: experience with teamwork, problem solving, communication, budgeting, and resource utilization, among other things. He reinforces the true philosophy of DI – that these experiences are appropriate and even essential for every child, not just those who qualify for talented and gifted programs. Senior Shares Her Life Mission Statement, DI-Style

When Hilary Kenyon was a senior in high school in Maryland, she had to design a portfolio of her high school career as a requirement for graduation an assignment. Of course, she had a lot of Destination ImagiNation memories in her portfolio: she participated in creative problem solving for many years and with 12 different teams.
